New cranes set to boost Tianjin capacity

TIANJIN Five Continents International Container Terminal has increased its handling capacity after erecting five more gantry cranes.


According to a terminal statement, the cranes were manufactured by the Shanghai-based port machinery company, ZPMC, and have a reach of 66 metres and a capacity of 65 tons. They are also capable of handling two containers simultaneously.

The statement added that there were now 11 gantries at the terminal and an additional one will be erected shortly, boosting the facility's handling capacity to 1.5 million TEU annually.
