CHONGQING Port Authority is to invest CNY190 million (US$22.94 million) to develop Jiulongbo port area into a container port, according to Xinhua.

Under the plan, the port's annual container capacity will be boosted to 200,000 TEU before the end of the year. The port will occupy a 20,000 square metres site, and the authorities in Chongqing city will also install computer hardware and software for container management.

In addition, the port authority also plans to spend another CNY120 million to redevelop Lanjiatuo port area into a distribution hub for the southwestern part of China, the report added.
