Shenzhen box handling up more than 30pc in Q1 |
CONTAINER handling at the Port of Shenzhen increased more than 30 per cent in the first three months of the year, compared with the same period last year, according to the Port Authority of Shenzhen. |
Statistics showed that the port handled 2.78 million TEU in the first quarter, up 30.1 per cent year-on-year. Loaded containers accounted for 1.86 million TEU, up 35.3 per cent; while empties accounted for 926,000 TEU, a rise of 20.7 per cent. In March alone, the port handled one million TEU, up 30.3 per cent over the same month last year. Figures also showed that Yantian port handled 1.31 million TEU during the first quarter, up 18.4 per cent; Shekou handled 441,000 TEU, up 58.3 per cent; Chiwan handled 535,000 TEU, up 60.9 per cent. |
